Chen Yunlin, president of the Chinese mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait (ARATS), arrived in Taiwan Wednesday afternoon for a new round of talks with his Taiwanese counterpart Chiang Pin-kung, chairman of the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF).

For more on the cross strait talks we’re joined in the studio by Professor Huo Deming from the National School of Development at Peking University.

Q1: We know that the meeting between Chen Yunlin and Chiang Pin-Kung has been delayed because the two parties haven’t reached a deal on the investment protection and promotion agreement that will be signed tomorrow. What were the sticking points?

Q2: Chiang Pin-kung has mentioned in his interview that Taiwan needs to create a better business environment to attract investment from the mainland. What does this entail in practice?
