BEIJING -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) met with a Namibian delegation on Tuesday, pledging to boost inter-party exchanges between the two nations.

Wang Gang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, hailed the traditional friendship between the CPC and the South-West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) during his meeting with the delegation, which was headed by Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, secretary-general of SWAPO, a Namibian political party.

High-level interactions between the two parties have become increasingly frequent and exchanges regarding experience in governance have been enhanced over the past years, said Wang, who is also vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana is in Beijing for the second China-Africa Young Leaders Forum, which is running from Monday to Wednesday. Nearly 200 young leaders from China and 38 African countries are attending the forum, which is co-sponsored by the CPC and the SWAPO.

The forum is not only a platform to facilitate exchanges between Chinese and African youth, but also helps to promote the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, a platform for collective dialogue and an effective mechanism to enhance practical cooperation between the two sides, Wang said.

The CPC is willing to make joint efforts with the SWAPO to expand cooperation and make contributions to boosting cooperation between China and Namibia, he added.
