HARARE -- Zimbabwean Vice President Joice Mujuru on Thursday extended congratulations on the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

"We are gathered here today to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China," Mujuru said in a message read on her behalf at a reception marking the 90th anniversary of the founding of the CPC.

Mujuru spoke highly of the development of party-to-party relations between the two countries. "I am happy to note that our long-standing party-to-party relations continue to grow from strength to strength," she said in the message read by Rugare Gumbo, spokesperson of Zimbabwe's ruling African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF).

In May 2010, the CPC and ZANU-PF signed a memorandum of understanding to promote political exchanges and cooperation between the two parties.

The memorandum of understanding provides a roadmap for party-to-party interactions between the two sides in the next five years. It should help strengthen ties between the two parties, Mujuru said.

"We call for the continuation of the exchange of high level visits and interactions at all structures and levels of our two parties," she said.

Meanwhile, the vice president also hailed China's win-win principle in its economic relations, which, she said, not only enabled its own economy to achieve remarkable growth, but also made enormous contributions to the growth and development of its partner countries, adding that Zimbabwe has also benefited from the practical application of this principle.

She said Zimbabwe has continued to benefit from Chinese investments in such sectors as agriculture, mining and energy as well as assistance in human resources development.
