PYONGYANG -- A special photo exhibition opened here Tuesday to mark the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

On display at the week-long exhibition, at the People's Palace of Culture of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), were photos showing the history of the CPC, which was founded on July 1, 1921, and top DPRK leader Kim Jong Il's visits to China.

A group of senior DPRK officials led by Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the Central Committee of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea, joined Chinese Ambassador Liu Hongcai at the exhibition, which drew hundreds of local visitors on the first day.

While lauding the CPC's glorious contribution to China's development, Public Health Minister Choe Chang Sik, who is also chief of the DPRK-China Friendship Association, said the DPRK will make every possible effort to enhance its traditional friendship with China.

Liu, for his part, said the exhibition offers an opportunity to let the DPRK people know better about the CPC and to help carry on the China-DPRK friendship for generations to come.
