Turkmenistan reiterates its adherence to the one-China policy, according to the China-Turkmenistan Joint Statement signed in Beijing on Monday.

"Turkmenistan will continue to adhere to the one-China policy and recognize the government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legitimate government of the whole of China," the statement says.

"Taiwan is an inalienable part of the Chinese territory," it says.

Chinese President Hu Jintao and visiting Turkmenistan President Saparmurat Niyazov signed the statement. Niyazov started his six-day state visit to China on Sunday.

Turkmenistan will oppose "Taiwan Independence" of any form, including "de jure independence", and oppose the attempt to fabricate "two Chinas" or "one China, one Taiwan," it says.

Turkmenistan will not establish official relations with Taiwan or conduct official exchanges, the statement says.

Turkmenistan is in opposition to Taiwan joining the international organizations that only sovereign nations could join, says the statement.

China reiterates its support for Turkmenistan's efforts to safeguard national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, develop national economy and maintain domestic stability," the statement says.

China supports Turkmenistan's permanent neutral policy, which is beneficial to the healthy and stable development of regional situation, says the statement.
