Wuhan, the most important industrial city on the middle reaches of Yangtze River, is now home to 655 Taiwan-financed businesses.
Taiwan-financed businesses have pumped investments totaling 1.32 billion US dollars into sectors including processing of foodstuffs, machinery and electronics, building materials, the automotive industry, commerce, logistics and information technology.
More than 3,000 Taiwanese had invested or worked long-term in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, said an official with Wuhan Municipal Office for Taiwan Affairs.
Taiwan-backed businesses in the city had created 15,000 jobs and paid 200 million yuan (24.1 million US dollars) in taxes last year, the official said.
