The new air cargo terminal of Xiamen International Airport was put into operation Tuesday morning. This is the first cooperative program in Cross-straits civil aviation.

In recent years, the international air cargo volume in Xiamen has been increasing dramatically at an annual speed of 15%. But the old air cargo terminal is relatively small and the equipment could no longer meet the present demand.

Confident in the bright future of Xiamen's air cargo development, Taiwan Hangqin (Macao) Co., Ltd and Xiamen International Airport Group have jointly invested 225,000,000 yuan to build a new air cargo terminal in Xiamen. Occupying a floor space of 31,000 square meters, the new terminal is designed to have an annual cargo-handling capacity of 150,000 tons. The terminal is equipped with advanced storage system, and can provide storehouses for special purposes. IT technology and automatic operation will be put into use in the air cargo terminal.
