| 239 More Taiwan-Invested Enterprises Established in Shenzhen Last Year |

A newly published statistic report shows that, in 2002, Taiwan businesses increased investment in Shenzhen in a steady way, 239 enterprises with Taiwan investment were newly established, and the figure of actually the utilization of Taiwan investment reached US$290 million.
Last year, Taiwan investment in Shenzhen and trade and economic cooperation between Shenzhen and Taiwan both took on a good look of development. In addition to large-scaled increase of investment by Taiwan businesses, there were breakthroughs in various fields of cooperation.
Allowed to invest in the financial service sector, Hua Nan Commercial Bank of Taiwan set up a representative office in Shenzhen last November, which meant the formal entry of Taiwan's banking industry into Shenzhen. Exports of Taiwan-invested enterprises kept its momentum of vigorous growth, which exceeded US$10 billion, showing a more than 30% growth over the previous year. Progress was made in indirect flights between Taiwan and Shenzhen. An all-cargo airline of Shenzhen-Macao-Taiwan was opened from Baoan Airport in Shenzhen, which was the first time to open cargo transport by the same aircraft all the way between Taiwan and China's mainland.
