Taiwan cement giant expands investment in central China province Taiwan Asia Cement Corporation (TACC), the second largest cement producer in the island, will invest 400 million US dollars to build its second plant in central China's Hubei province. The new plant will be built in the Yangluo economic development zone in Wuhan, the provincial capital, with its annual production capacity designed to be some three million tons. The whole project will be developed in two phases, the first ofwhich will be invested with 100 million US dollars and expected to produce 1.5 million tons of cement a year. TACC, with an overall annual cement output exceeding 10 milliontons, has so far developed three cement enterprises on the Chinese mainland, in Jiangxi and Hubei provinces and in Shanghai municipality. According to TACC officials, the corporation will build more plants on the mainland within the coming decade, aiming for an entire annual cement output up to 15.8 million tons. To date, all of the four largest cement companies in Taiwan have built their plants on the mainland, and all of them have made net profits, according to sources. |
