| Taiwan’s Export to Mainland Hit Over US$10 Billion in First Quarter |

Data of the Taiwan economic administration shows, thanks to Taiwan’s WTO entry and an increase in Taiwan manufacturers’ investment in the Mainland, Taiwan’s trade volume with the Mainland surged to US$10.066 billion, a sharp increase of 33.2 per cent over the same period of last year, accounting for 16.4 per cent of Taiwan’s total trade exchange in the same period, of which, exports totaled US$7.802 billion (+ 29.9 per cent), and imports totaled US$2.265 billion (+45.9 per cent), with a trade surplus of US$5.537 billion (+24.3 per cent ). In March alone, both monthly imports and exports between Taiwan and the Mainland reached record high.
