According to the Taiwan Office of Zhangzhou City, by the end of 2002, the whole city had accumulatively approved 1,702 enterprises to be established with Taiwan investment, whose contractual figure topped US$6.996 billion, and the actual paid-up number was US$3.9 billion. The total volume of Taiwan investment absorbed by the city had been ranked the first in Fujian Province for eight years running.
It is reported by the Strait Herald that, a native place of many Taiwan people, Zhangzhou has made many efforts to improve its investment environment and facilitate exchanges between the Strait in recent years. Among other things, the city has used annual events such as flower exhibition, April 9 Zhangzhou-Taiwan Forum, and September 8 Investment Talks, and established Lantian, Jiaomei, Gangwei and other Taiwan investment zones to introduce investment from Taiwan in a good way. |
