Statistics most recently issued by the Taiwan Office of Shangdong Province show that, last year, the actually paid in Taiwan investment in this province amounted to US$660 million, up by 31% over the previous year, hitting an all-time high, and 58 Taiwan-invested enterprises increased their investment by US$110 million. Meanwhile, the volume of imports and exports of Shangdong with Taiwan topped US$790 million, of which US$253 million were exports to Taiwan, scoring a growth of 75% over the previous year.
Up to date, the cumulative Taiwan investment actually used by Shandong has reached US$3.3 billion. 2,982 enterprises with Taiwan investment are in operation, and 154 of them are large projects each with an investment of more than UIS$10 million.
A group of industrial parks or zones particularly built for Taiwan-invested enterprises are developing fast, already becoming important carriers of absorbing investment from Taiwan businesses. Shandong has already planned and built more than 20 Taiwan industrial parks, where over 400 Taiwan-invested projects have been introduced with Taiwan investment of US$900 million by contract.
