This 500-meter-long scroll picture, "Chinese Peony", has more than 10,000 peonies of several hundred varieties on it. Its creator, Zhang Zhiwen, used both traditional Chinese ink-painting and western-style painting to complete the work. The piece also contains images of other kind of flowers, such as azaleas and narcissus, as well as many birds. The scroll picture is imbued with the fresh smell of spring.
A long scroll of calligraphy work, written in 10 different styles by some renowned calligraphers, was also on display at the exhibition. |
