Tibetan Plateau River Source Applies for Nature Heritage
   日期:2003-12-10 16:20        编辑: system        来源:

The Qinghai provincial committee of the Jiusan society, a democratic organization, proposed that the sources of China??s three major rivers apply for a world nature heritage.
The river sources lie in the heart of the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau with an average height of 4,400 meters, the third pole of the world, so to speak. The area is the place where the greatest number of rivers rises in the Euro-Asian Continent. It boasts of an ecological system that is most primitive and most vulnerable in China.
The society scientists say that it is not only the source of life for the Chinese, but also for the Southeast and South Asian people.
