Speaking at an international forum on China's development, vice director with the Development Research Center under the State Council, Chen Qingtai, says for sure, China's energy development faces severe challenges.

However, he notes that system and technological innovations in the energy sector still have a huge potential.

He adds that the Chinese government will step up the utilization highly efficient energies to promote sustainable development.
