Chinese Vice Health Minister Gao Qiang calls for a combination of both Western and traditional Chinese medicine in treating and preventing SARS.
Gao Qiang points out that SARS is a brand-new disease, and so far there are no effective medicines to prevent or cure it. He hopes Chinese medical workers can combine the advantages of Chinese and Western medicine to treat the disease.
The government has already initiated a research project on such combination therapy
