Chinese experts claimed to have discovered SARS antibodies that may one day help immunize people against the disease.
Li Gang, a medical researcher from Southeast China's Guangdong Province, said his team has detected two kinds of antibodies in SARS patients, IgG, and IgM.
The discovery was made after three months of tests on 21 SARS patients.
He says IgG is very much like a protective antibody, and every SARS patient has it when they recuperate.
He adds that like the antibody against hepatitis A, the protective IgG is very likely to make SARS patients immune to the disease in future.
He predicted vaccines would be developed using the antibody to immunize people against SARS.
