The Chinese mainland has denounced Taiwan leader Chen Shuibian's announcement of the establishment of a so-called peace and stability framework for cross-straits interactions.
The Chinese mainland has denounced Taiwan leader Chen Shuibian's announcement of the establishment of a so-called peace and stability framework for cross-straits interactions, saying it aims to delude Taiwan people and the international community.
A spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council says Chen Shuibian is pursuing a referendum that would provoke a confrontation between peoples on both sides of the Taiwan Straits.
The spokesperson adds that Chen Shuibian has claimed he would set up a so-called framework for cross-straits' peace and stability.
The spokesperson reiterates that the One-China policy is the basis for the stable development of cross-straits relations, and Chinese mainland hopes Taiwan compatriots and the international community see through Chen Shuibian's deceitful intentions in seeking Taiwan independence.
On bird flu prevention and control, the spokesperson said the Chinese mainland is willing to cooperate with Taiwan. |
