BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhua) -- China's top political adviser's visit to three countries has promoted friendship, cooperation and understanding, a senior Chinese official said Wednesday.

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited Myanmar, Australia and Samoa from April 2 to 13.

The visit has far-reaching significance, as it came in the first year of China's 12th five-year plan for national economic and social development, and against the backdrop of a recovering global economy and an accelerated transformation of China's economic growth pattern, said Wang Shenghong, deputy secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee.

The visit is fruitful as it promoted the exchange, mutual trust, cooperation and friendship between China and the three countries, Wang said.

ENHANCING POLITICAL TRUST

During his visit, Jia reiterated China's commitment to peaceful and harmonious development through cooperation with other countries.

He said China will by no means seek hegemony, and will continue to boost the friendship, enhance policy coordination and expand the common interests with the three countries.

The hosting leaders all said a friendly and cooperative relation with China enjoys a priority in their diplomacy, and they expressed the will to maintain high-level contacts and boost mutual political trust and coordination with China.
