HONG KONG -- Taiwan's share prices closed lower on Tuesday with the weighted index falling 36.22 points, or 0.45 percent, to close at 7,886.94, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

The local bourse fluctuated between 7,863.91 and 7,896.67 during the day's trading. Turnover totaled 76.14 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 2.57 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.
