HONG KONG -- Taiwan's share prices closed higher Monday with the weighted index up 53.47 points, or 0.72 percent, at 7,450.53, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

The local bourse fluctuated between 7,462.15 and 7,389.68 during the day's trading. Turnover totaled 74.70 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 2.50 billion U.S. dollars).
