BEIJING -- This year's No.9 typhoon "Damrey" and No. 10 typhoon "Saola" will land in China. At 13:00, CMO released this year's 1st red warning for typhoon.
"Damrey" is rapidly developing and its intensity is stronger than "Saola". Currently, "Damrey" is approaching the coastal area of Jiangsu and Shandong and is forecasted to land in the coastal area between Yancheng, Shandong to Qingdao, Shandong in the night of August 2. When "Damrey" lands, the maximum wind force around its center will be scale 13 (35 to 40 m/s).
In addition, "Saola" has landed in Taiwan this early morning. It will move towards northwest at the speed of 15km per hour and will cross Taiwan Island to approach the coastal area between central Fujian to southern Zhejiang. It will land in the coastal area between Putian, Fujian to Yuhuan, Zhejiang. When it lands, the maximum wind force around its center will be scale 12 (33 to 35m/s). After landing, it will enter into Jiangxi.
It is forecasted that influenced by both "Damrey" and "Saola", the coastal areas of Shandong, Jiangsu, Yangtze River Delta, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian and Taiwan will experiencing wind waves. From August 2 to 5, southern Shandong, northern Jiangsu, Taiwan, central and northern Fujian, southern Zhejiang, northern Jiangxi and northern Hunan will see torrential rain and the precipitation will be 80 to 180mm, some places 200 to 400mm. Heavy rain to rainstorm will hit west part of the Yellow-Huaihe River Valley, south and east parts of North China and south part of Northeast China. Southwestern Liaoning, Tianjin, northeastern and southern Hebei, eastern Shanxi and northern Henan will suffer heavy rainstorm. The precipitation will be 60 to 150mm, some places 180 to 260mm.
