TAIPEI -- The stranded cargo ship that crashed into rocks in waters off Keelung had left four dead and six missing, as of 3:30 p.m. Monday, according to Taiwan's coast guard authority.
The cracked cargo ship has caused oil leaks of 312 tonnes, polluting a three -kilometer-long coastline.
The Panamanian cargo ship sailed from the Keelung harbor Sunday night and stranded during the midnight.
Of its 21 crew members, four are from Taiwan, eight from Myanmar and nine from Indonesia. Two Taiwan sailors died and 11 crews survived.
The authority said rescuers would continue the searching work despite pounding rains and strong winds at sea. |
