GUANGZHOU, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- China beat Kazakhstan 13-5 to claim the women's water polo title at the Asian Games here on Wednesday.
China led 4-1 at quarter time, 7-3 at halftime and 8-4 at the final break before closing with the last three shots in the final.
It was China's third straight win and Kazakhstan's first loss during the four-team round-robin event in three days.
Teng Fei was the top scorer with three goals while Kazakhstan's veteran goalkeeper Galina Rytova had 13 saves for her team.
Jane Giralt Juan, head coach of China's team, said: "I'm not happy with my girls' game today because they have missed many scoring opportunities."
"China needs to prepare for the London Olympic Games since now on. They are possible medals winners if they keep going," said the Spanish coach.
In the earlier match, the Plyusova sisters, Natalya and Anna helped Uzbekistan to the bronze medal with a 20-2 victory over India.
It was Uzbekistan's first win in three matches, but good enough for the third place.
