On July 9, 1999, Li Denghui brought forward his “Two States” statement. The Chinese government and people counterpunched resolvedly, firmly safeguarding the intactness of sovereignty and territory of China.
On April 24, 2001, Li Denghui drove from Osaka to the Central Hospital in Kurabo, Japan for “treatment.” Some local overseas Chinese students held signs which said “Li Denghui Is a Trouble-maker for Sino-Japanese Friendships,” “Resolved Opposition to the ‘Two States’ Statement” and “Resolved Opposition to Taiwan Independence,” standing at the entrance for Li’s motorcade to express their anger.
